The following is information to help you troubleshoot in the event that a computer does not recognize the Roland recorder:
- Be sure that a compatible SD card is being used: R-09HR: Secure Digital (SD) Card Compatibility Guidelines
- Try a different USB port on the computer and/or a different USB cable--just to be sure that one of these is not the cause.
Note: Do not connect the recorder to a USB hub while troubleshooting. - Be sure that you are connecting to a USB 2.0 port on your computer; or a USB 3.0 port with backwards compatibility. Check the USB 3.0 specifications of your computer to determine if there is complete support for USB backwards compatibility.
- Physically disconnect any connected power supply and test with new, unused Alkaline or Nickel Hydrogen batteries.
Note: Lithium batteries are not compatible with the recorder. - Be sure that a PSB-6U or UDC-25 power supply is being used only--3rd party power supplies can cause the unit to not operate properly.
- Be sure to log onto your computer as a user with administrative privileges.
- Close/turn off system monitoring/anti-virus software temporarily--this may be preventing your computer from recognizing the recorder.
- You may have a fragmented memory card--due to improper ejection from a computer, power loss while recording, not formatting a new SD card, etc. We would recommend formatting the SD card to alleviate the possible fragmentation on the card: R-09HR: Formatting the SD (Secure Digital) Memory Card (Initialize)
NOTE: Formatting a memory card will delete all contents on the card. - Try using a different SD memory card (if one is available) to rule out a malfunctioning card.
- Test on a different computer (if available) to rule out a computer related issue.
- Be sure that your recorder's system version is up to date. The recorder's current version appears on the display when powering on the unit. The latest version may be downloaded below:
