MS-3: Four Cable Method (4CM) Effect Chain Customization
To setup the MS-3 in FOUR CABLE METHOD you'll need to sacrifice a LOOP for the connection to your AMP's EFFECTS LOOP.
You can choose L1, L2, L3 for this connection.
The MS-3 is designed with the L1, L2 and L3 Loops connected as a block.
NOTE: the L1, L2 and L3 can not be rearranged in your internal EFFECTS CHAIN they are in a FIXED LOCATION and in a FIXED ORDER.
MS-3 INTERNAL EFFECTS CAN be positioned BEFORE or AFTER the L1-L3 BLOCK and NOT IN BETWEEN.
If you are using one of the LOOPS in 4CM, one of these LOOPS will represent your PRE-AMP of your AMP. Any pedal LEFT of this LOOP would be BEFORE your PREAMP any pedal to the RIGHT of this LOOP would be AFTER the PREAMP. When viewing the MS-3 display in EFFECT CHAIN view INPUT to OUTPUT is LEFT to RIGHT.
Depending on where you connect in FOUR CABLE METHOD on the MS-3, you'll only have 2 other LOOPS available for external pedals. Which LOOP you choose for 4CM will determine how many LOOPS you have available BEFORE or AFTER your PREAMP.
For example here all possible choices for 4CM:
PREAMP in (L1) - L2 - L3
L1 - PREAMP in (L2) - L3
L1 - L2 - PREAMP in (L3)
Keep in mind your other MS-3 INTERNAL EFFECTS (FX1, FX2, NS, FV, DLY, MOD1, MOD2, REV) all CAN be moved around this block BEFORE or AFTER.
Here's an example of an MS-3 4CM EFFECT CHAIN
EFFECTS to the LEFT of L1 are before the PREAMP.
EFFECTS to the RIGHT are within the EFFECTS LOOP.
Order of INTERNAL EFFECTS are able to be customized before or after the PREAMP.
INPUT--> FX1 -> FX2 -> PREAMP in (L1) - L2 - L3 -> NS -> DLY -> MOD1 -> MOD2 -> REV -> MASTER --> OUTPUT
NOTE: In this set up L2 and L3 EXTERNAL PEDALS are POST PREAMP.
TIP: Stack more than ONE EFFECT PEDAL of similar function in a LOOP to conserve LOOPS or for EFFECT STACKING. These may need to be manually activated.
