RC-505: EV-5 External Expression Control Setup
If you are using an EV-5, EV-30, FV-500 H/L Expression Pedal set the EXPRESSION PEDAL MINIMUM knob to zero/minimum for full range sweep heel to toe down.
Connect Expression Pedal to RC-505 CTL 1/2 EXP jack using a 1/4" TRS Stereo Cable, reference RC-505 Owner's Manual page 6 and 18.

You will also need to create an ASSIGNMENT for the RC-505 MEMORY LOCATION/PATCH.
Please reference your RC-505 Owner's Manual pages 17 and 18 (below screen capture) for guidance programming an ASSIGNMENT.
NOTE: ASSIGNMENTS 1-16 are available for every MEMORY LOCATION and are MEMORY/PATCH UNIQUE.
ASSIGNMENTS are NOT SYSTEM/GLOBAL and will have to be programmed for every MEMORY LOCATION as needed. If you need the same ASSIGNMENTS setup for other MEMORY LOCATIONS create a "template MEMORY PATCH" with all your preprogrammed ASSIGNMENTS in one MEMORY LOCATION and WRITE/SAVE copy the template MEMORY PATCH to multiple locations for future performance usage using the WRITE button WRITE/SAVE to location menu.
Choose a MEMORY VALUE LOCATION/PATCH you want to setup your ASSIGNMENT for external EXPRESSION PEDAL control.
Press [MEMORY] EDIT button four times to get to the ASSIGN1 or other available ASSIGNMENT.
NOTE: some ASSIGNS are setup by default and you may want to go to a blank one in a higher ASSIGN NUMBER).
IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER - ASSIGNMENTS always have a
SOURCE (ie: onboard button, footswitch or external CTL 1/2 EXP button or footswitch) and a
TARGET (ie: the target function in the RC-505 - effects on/off, range sweep, parameter value change, REC/PLAY/DUB, STOP, etc.).
Make your ASSIGNMENT settings similar to below:
ASSIGN 1 SWITCH: ON
ASSIGN 1 SOURCE: EXP PEDAL
ASSIGN 1 SOURCE MODE: MOMENT (use momentary for expression range sweep functionality or MIDI CC#)
ASSIGN 1 TARGET: INPUT LEVEL (this designates the target parameter or sub-parameter to control, choose from several choices listed below).
ASSIGN 1 MIN: 0 (choose MIN for HEEL position down on EXPRESSION PEDAL).
ASSIGN 1 MAX: 200 (choose MAX for TOE position down on EXPRESSION PEDAL).
Once set, check and test functionality of the ASSIGNMENT both visible and audible check if possible.
If happy with result, press WRITE/SAVE button twice to save your setting to the specific MEMORY VALUE location and WRITE programming.
