You use an expression pedal like the Roland EV-5 to sweep the "Auto Wah" effect in the FA-06/07/08 to create a classic "wah-wah" pedal effect.
First, you need to connect the EV-5 to one of the foot pedal inputs on the back panel (we will use CTRL1), and assign that input (CTRL1) to a specific MIDI message in the System or Studio Set Common settings (we will use System and set the pedal to transmit CC06 Data Entry).
- Press MENU.
- Cursor to "System" and press ENTER.
- Cursor to the "Pedal" tab at the top of the screen.
- Cursor to "Control Pedal 1 Assign" and use the value dial to set this to "CC06(Data Entry)."
- Cursor to "Control Pedal 1 Polarity" and use the value dial to set this to "Standard."
- Press the number 6 button under the screen (which says "System Write" on the screen above it) to save this setting.
Next you need to select the #06 Auto-Wah effect and set the pedal to control it:
- Press Menu.
- Cursor to "Effects Edit" and press ENTER.
- Press the number 2 button under the screen (which says "MFX" on the screen above it).
- Turn the value dial to select "06:Auto Wah."
- Cursor down to the "Depth" setting and use the value dial to set this to "0."
- Cursor to the "MFX Control" tab at the top of the screen.
- Cursor to "Source 1" and use the value dial to select "CC06(Data Entry)."
- Cursor to "Destination 1" and use the value dial to select "Manual."
- Cursor to "Sens 1" and use the value dial to select "+63."
You can now use the EV-5 expression pedal to sweep the wah effect in the FA-06/07/08.
