What You Need for the Update
- TD-27 sound module
- SD card (an SDHC card up to 32 GB capacity, pre-formatted on the TD-27)
*IMPORTANT*
The update process includes a factory reset (initialization). If you have important data, please back it up to an SD card in advance. TD-27 Backup instructions
Follow the steps below:
*If you have already installed the Roland Cloud Manager app and created a Roland account, start with Step 5.
- Click on the link below:
TD-27 Version 2 Update - Click on "DOWNLOAD NOW" to get the Roland Cloud Manager APP.
*Please note that you will need to ensure that the Roland Cloud Manager APP is installed. If you’re not sure how to do this, here are a few links that should help.* - Launch the Roland Cloud Manager installer and sign in.
If you do not have a Roland Account, click on "Sign up". - Click on "Roland".
- Click on "Hardware Instruments" > Drums & Percussion" > "TD-27".
- Click on the download button to download the update file (RolandCloud_TD-27_Version_2_Update.zip).
Creating an SD Card for the Update
- Decompress the downloaded file (RolandCloud_TD-27_Version_2_Update.zip).
The “RolandCloud_TD-27_Version_2_Update” folder appears when decompression is finished. - Copy the update file (TD27_UPA.BIN) to the root directory of the SD card (the directory that displays immediately after opening the SD card).
Note that after copying the file, you should see both the Roland folder and .BIN file in the same view. Make sure the .BIN file does not get copied into any folders on the SD Card. - Eject/remove the SD card using the method shown below:

For Windows:
Use the “Remove Hardware” icon shown on the lower right corner of the screen to disconnect (eject) the SD card, and remove it from the computer. -
For macOS:
Drag the SD card icon into the Trash to disconnect (eject) the SD card, and remove it from the computer.

UPDATE PROCEDURE
- Turn off the TD-27.
- Insert the SD card for the update into the SD card slot of the TD-27.
- Turn on the power while holding down the [REC] button. You can release the button after “=== update === Insert memory..." appears.
The update begins and the process takes approximately 5 minutes.
When the update is complete, “Update finished” is shown in the display.
NOTE
Do not turn off the TD-27 during the update process. Doing so can cause damage or loss of User data. - Turn off the power and remove the SD card from the TD-27.
- Turn on the power of the TD-27.
The word “Roland” appears, followed by the INITIALIZE USER MEMORY screen.
Next, execute the factory reset. - Press the [F5] (FACTORY RESET) button.
A confirmation message appears. - Use the cursor buttons to select “OK,” and press the [ENTER] button.
This executes the factory reset. - When the “Factory Reset Completed!” message appears, press the [F5] (OK) button.
