What you'll need:
- DD-200
- EV-5, EV-30, FV-500H/L, CV Expression pedal
- If using an EV-30 or FV-500H/L, you'll need to use a 1/4" TRS stereo cable for connection.
The EV-5 is hardwired with a 1/4" TRS stereo cable.

EV-5 Setup and Connection:
Make sure that on your EV-5 Expression Minimum Volume value is set to zero and NOT the max value.
If the Minimum is set to its max value, then the EV-5 will not have the correct functional range sweep.
Remember the Minimum Volume knob is for the minimum heel down adjustment, instead of zero, another value may be used to change the expression range sweep.
For this specific expression setup, troubleshooting, and testing, best to start with the Minimum Volume knob set to zero. Please see the Minimum Volume knob location on the EV-5 below and where to connect to the DD-200 CTL 1/2 EXP jack.

Once your EV-5 is connected via the hard-wired EV-5 1/4" TRS stereo cable from EV-5 to DD-200 EXP jack, then go into the DD-200 SYSTEM menu settings.
DD-200 System Settings:
Press both the TAP DIVISION + MEMORY buttons together to enter into the SYSTEM menu:
1. Use the TIME KNOB to navigate to EPP/EXPRESSION PREFERENCE, this setting relates with the EPF/EXPRESSION FUNCTION, and how it will work for the DD-200, will it function global or memory specific.
Press the TIME KNOB to enter the EPP menu, then rotate the TIME knob to choose either SYSTEM or MEMORY. (For this example we'll set it to SYSTEM/GLOBAL).
SYSTEM = SYSTEM/GLOBAL, the EPF EXPRESSION function will be global for all user memory patches. No WRITE/save necessary, set the EPF EXPRESSION FUNCTION, "set it, forget it" since it's SYSTEM/GLOBAL.
MEMORY = MEMORY/PATCH unique specific custom settings, the EPF/EXPRESSION FUNCTION will need to be WRITE/saved to the MEMORY/PATCH, and the EPF function will only work for that specific MEMORY/PATCH.
2. Once the EPP is set to SYSTEM/GLOBAL, by rotating the TIME KNOB, press the TIME KNOB to exit, then rotate the TIME KNOB and navigate to EPF (counterclockwise from EPP).
Once on EPF/EXPRESSION FUNCTION, press the TIME KNOB, then select the EXPRESSION FUNCTION, choose from the following options below, once set, exit the SYSTEM menu by pressing
both the TAP DIVISION + MEMORY buttons again, to EXIT.
Test and check your EV-5 expression functionality with any MEMORY location.
If EPP: was set to MEMORY, then WRITE/save your settings to the MEMORY/PATCH,
PRESS HOLD the MEMORY button, the display should blink with WRT/WRITE, press the MEMORY button to choose a MEMORY location, (you may also use the TIME knob to navigate quickly),
choose any MEMORY, you may WRITE/save to: MAN/MANUAL - to - M.27/MEMORY 127,
once chosen, PRESS HOLD the MEMORY button again and this will WRITE/save your user custom settings for EPF EXPRESSION parameter adjustments to a user MEMORY/PATCH.
Test and check your EV-5 expression functionality with that specific MEMORY location.
