On the SH-4d, you can delete note messages and control change messages (motions) from patterns, either separately or together. Delete the data by using one of the methods below.
Using STEP EDIT to delete note and control change messages
- Press the [PATTERN] button to make it go dark.
- Long-press the buttons of the step [1]–[16] that you want to edit to show the STEP EDIT screen.
* When you press the [<] [>] [V] [Λ] buttons, the STEP EDIT screen remains active. - Press the [<] [>] buttons to select either “NOTE” or “MOTION”.
- To delete a note message, use the keyboard buttons to select the note you want to delete while “NOTE” is displayed.
- To delete a control change message, turn the [1] knob to select “-----” while “MOTION” is displayed.
Deleting note messages
- Press the [PATTERN] button to make it go dark.
- Press the step [1]–[16] button of the step you want to delete.
Deleting control change messages
- Hold down the [SHIFT] button and press the [14] button.
The PATTERN UTILITY screen appears. - Use knobs [1] and [2] or the [V] [Λ] buttons to select “CLEAR MOTION”, and then press the [ENTER] button.
The message “Motion Cleared” is shown, and all control change messages for the current part are deleted.
Deleting all note and control change messages for the current part
- Press the [PATTERN] button to make it go dark.
- Hold down the [SHIFT] button and press the [15] button.
The message “Part x Cleared” is shown, and all note and control change messages for the current part are deleted.
- If the current part is a rhythm part, you can select whether to delete all note messages or just the note messages for the current instrument.
- Once the message “CLEAR NOTE | RHYTHM INST/KIT | Are you sure?” appears, use the [2] knob to select either “INST” or “KIT”.
To cancel the operation, select “CANCEL”. - Press the [ENTER] button.
The message “Completed!” appears, and the selected data is deleted.
- Once the message “CLEAR NOTE | RHYTHM INST/KIT | Are you sure?” appears, use the [2] knob to select either “INST” or “KIT”.
- If the current part is a rhythm part, you can select whether to delete all note messages or just the note messages for the current instrument.
