The RC-500 lets you import audio files to a track using BOSS TONE STUDIO for RC, or by copying files directly using a computer.
Note: Either method requires a USB cable that supports data transfer.
Method A: Using BOSS TONE STUDIO for RC
Supported formats: WAV, MP3, M4A (AAC)
Note: Operation is not guaranteed for all audio files.
- Install BOSS TONE STUDIO for RC (Windows or macOS), and connect the RC-500 to your computer.
Click Import. - Select the audio file to import. The Import dialog appears.
- Click the track number where you want to save the audio file.
- Click Import.

Method B: Using a computer
Supported format: WAV (32-bit float, stereo)
- Press the [MENU] button.
The SETUP screen appears. - Turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob to select “STORAGE,” and press the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob.
- Turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob to set “PREPARING...”.
- Use a USB cable that supports data transfer to connect the RC-500's USB port to your computer's USB port.
The display shows “CONNECTING...” when the connection is established. - Open the BOSS RC-500 drive, then open the ROLAND folder and the WAVE folder inside it.
Note: Do not rename the folders. - Copy a WAV file to the folder for the memory and track you want.
- Eject the RC-500 drive from your computer before disconnecting the USB cable.
