The EV-1-WL can be used to control the AE-20, AE-20W, and AE-30 (hereinafter "Aerophone") with a wireless (Bluetooth) connection. Here is a chart showing the messages you can set on the EV-1-WL and the parameters on the Aerophone they will control:
Some of these parameters are more useful than others when using an expression pedal - such as CC07 (Volume) or CC01 (Expression). Something like CC20 (Scene Up) and CC21 (Scene Down) will be more useful if you are using a footswitch like the FS-1-WL.
Note: You will need to use the separate EV-1-WL Editor App on your smartphone or tablet to set and change these messages on the EV-1-WL.
Once you have the messages set for your needs, you can then pair the EV-1-WL with the Aerophone.
Turn on Bluetooth on the Aerophone:
- Press MENU
- Use the +/- buttons to select "Bluetooth."
- Press MENU, then use the +/- buttons to select "On."
- Press the SCENE UP or SCENE DOWN button to exit the Menu.
Power on the EV-1-WL and pair it with the Aerophone:
- Move the power switch on the back of the EV-1-WL to the "ON" position - the power indicator on the side of the EV-1-WL will come on.
- Double click the Bluetooth button on the back of the EV-1-WL so the LED blinks white (not blue) slowly.
- Click the Bluetooth button on the back of the EV-1-WL so it blinks quickly indicating that the EV-1-WL is ready to pair. After a short time it will then light solid (not blinking) to indicate that it has paired with the Aerophone. You will also see a short message on the Aerophone ("MIDI Online") indicating that it has paired with the EV-1-WL.
You can now use the EV-1-WL with the Aerophone Aerophone.
Troubleshooting
If the EV-1-WL does not seem to be pairing with the Aerophone (LED keeps flashing and not going solid), this is most likely because the Aerophone is already paired to another device (maybe the editor on a phone or tablet). In this is the case, you can reset the Bluetooth connection on the Aerophone:
- Press MENU
- Use the +/- buttons to select "Bluetooth Reset."
- Press MENU, then use the + buttons to select "YES."
- Press MENU to Confirm the operation.
The Bluetooth settings in the Aerophone will be reset and you can the power off and back on the Aerophone and pair to the EV-1-WL.
