The RC-500 lets you use the ASSIGN setting to control a function with a MIDI Control Change (CC) message from an external MIDI device.
- Connect the external MIDI device's MIDI OUT to the RC-500's MIDI IN.
Use a TRS/MIDI connecting cable; see "What MIDI cable can I use with this unit?" for details. - Press the [MENU] button.
The SETUP screen appears. - Turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob to select "MIDI", and press the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob.
- Turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob to select "RX CTL CH", and press the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob.
- Turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob to set the same channel as the external device's transmit channel (channel 1 by default), and press the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob.
- Press the [MENU] button to return to the play screen.
- Press the [MEMORY] button.
The memory settings screen appears. - Turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob to select any of ASSIGN1–8, and press the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob.
- Set the following values.
- ASSIGN: ON
- SOURCE: the CC# you want to use
- SRC MODE: MOMENT (the function is active only while the CC value is 127) or TOGGLE (the function switches on/off each time the CC is received)
- TARGET: the function you want to control. For the full list of available functions, see the RC-500 Parameter Guide.
- Press the [EXIT] and [ENTER] buttons together to save the memory.
Note: ASSIGN settings are saved per memory and cannot be applied system-wide. To reuse the same ASSIGN settings across multiple memories, create a memory with your preferred ASSIGN settings and no recorded loop, then save (write) it to each memory location where you want to use it.
