SDE-3000D: How to update system program firmware

Here's how to update the system program firmware for the SDE-3000D.

Details about the changes can be found in the “UPDATE HISTORY” section of the system program download page.

Before you start, check the system program version of your SDE-3000D.

1. Turn off the power.
2. While pressing the [FEEDBACK PHASE] button, turn on the power.
   
3. See the current version shown on the left side of the display.
   *Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.
4. Turn off the power.

-See "SDE-3000D System Program" for the update history. The OFFSET parameter of the TIME LINK function is added to the System Program Ver. 1.10 or later. If your SDE-3000D does not show this parameter, please update to the latest version.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR SDE-3000D

• SDE-3000D unit
• USB Type-C® cable
• A computer equipped with USB 2.0 or 3.0 port (Windows, Mac)

CAUTION

• Never apply this update data to any product other than the SDE-3000D. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
• Never power-off your SDE-3000D while the update is in progress!
  If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the SDE-3000D won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.

UPDATE PROCEDURE

Follow the steps below:

DOWNLOADING AND UNARCHIVING THE COMPRESSED FILE

1. Go to SDE-3000D UPDATES & DRIVERS and click on SDE-3000D System Program.
2. Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the download page and select the "I AGREE..." check box.
3. Click the "Download File" button to download the system program (sde3000d_sys_vXXX*.zip).
   *XXX=Version number
4. Unarchive the downloaded file.
   Windows: Right-click the file and click "Extract All", then click "Extract".
   macOS: Double-click the file to unzip it.
   "sde3000d_sys_vXXX*" folder appears.
   *XXX: Version number
   Never double-click the files displayed inside the folder after unarchiving or changing the file name.

INSTALL THE UPDATE-FILE

CautionNever use this update on any other product than the SDE-3000D, as it may harm other devices' data or system programs.

1. While pressing the [BANK A] button, turn on the power.
   
   Keep pressing the [BANK A] button until the display shows "uPdAtE".
   
2. Connect the SDE-3000D and the PC with a USB cable.
   The SDE-3000D is recognized as an external drive on your computer.
3. Open the "sde3000d_sys_vXXX" folder and copy "SDE3000D.BIN" and "ROMINFO.TXT" files to the level displayed immediately on accessing the SDE-3000D drive.
4. Confirm that copying is complete, then:
   Windows: See "Safely remove hardware in Windows".
   Mac: Drag the SDE-3000D icon on the desktop into Trash, and disconnect the USB cable.
   The update starts automatically.
5. When "donE" appears, turn the power back on.
