Since the Gigcaster 8 (GCS-8) does not have a built-in function for layering overdubs or mixing down recordings, a computer with a DAW is required. The Gigcaster 8 can record each input channel to its own track in a DAW or audio software. Install the dedicated multitrack driver from the Gigcaster 8 downloads page to enable this. (Mac users: install the driver labeled "Gigcaster GCS-8 (MTK-RECORD) Driver.") Then follow these steps to set it up.
1. Set up the Gigcaster 8
- Disconnect the Gigcaster 8's USB connection from the computer.
- On the home screen, touch the menu icon in the top right.
- Touch SETUP, then USB.
- Set AUDIO MODE to MTK-RECORD, then touch the home button to return to the home screen.
- Connect the Gigcaster 8 to the computer via USB.
2. Set up the DAW
- Open the DAW or audio software and select "GCS-8" as the audio device.
- When selecting a track input, match it to the Gigcaster 8 channel you want to record.
The Gigcaster 8's USB channels appear in the DAW as shown below.
