When the TU-02's response is weak or inconsistent, check the following points:
- Significantly Deviating from Detectable Pitch: Depending on the selected mode, the TU-02 detects the pitch of each string. However, it may not detect the sound of strings that are significantly out of tune compared to the reference pitch. If necessary use the Chromatic mode to find the correct note for the string for any instrument.
- Check the Battery Level: Low battery power can affect the tuner's performance and accuracy. If the battery is low, replace it with a fresh battery (CR2032).
- Inaccurate Tuning in Noisy Environments: Avoid tuning in noisy environments as excessive vibrations can compromise tuning accuracy.
- Check the TU-02 contact point with the instrument. If necessary try an alternate "clip-on" position, with improved vibration, for better tuning tracking, and accuracy.
If these checkpoints above cannot remedy the problem you are experiencing, there is a possibility that the tuner may be malfunctioning.
