No. The BOSS GIGCASTER 8 (GCS-8) cannot record directly to a sound pad or assign audio to it on the unit itself. You must first record to a microSD card, then use the Gigcaster8 GCS-8 App (Windows, macOS) to export the file and assign it to a pad.

Step 1: Export the recorded data

*Before launching the app, install the USB driver compatible with the operating system in advance.
- Record audio to the microSD card.
The card must be formatted on the GCS-8 before first use. - Connect the GIGCASTER 8 to your computer via USB.
- Launch the app.
- Click the SD CARD icon at the top of the app screen.
- Click the file icon to open the GCS-8_EXT folder.
- Select the WAV file to assign, then click "Open".
- Click "EXPORT".
- Select a destination, and click OK when done.
- Click "CLOSE".
Step 2: Assign the exported file to a pad
- Click PAD.
- Select the BANK containing the target pad.
- Select the pad.
- Click FILE, select the exported WAV file, and click Open.
Click the pad to preview the audio. - Set any other parameters, then click "APPLY".
