The SOLO can be controlled via MIDI, with the following settings. CC#83 can control the same function as those assigned to GA-FC FS1. So, you can control SOLO ON/OFF with CC#83 by assigning the function to GA-FC FS1.
Example setting
- ASSIGN: SOLO ON/OFF to GA-FC FS1
- SYSTEM -> MIDI SETTING -> CONTROL CHANGE: Assign CC#83 to RX CC GA-FC FS1
You can control SOLO ON/OFF with CC#83 from external MIDI device.
CC#83 GA-FC (FS-1) 0-63 OFF
CC#83 GA-FC (FS-1) 64-127 ON
You have to make sure it's set to momentary and not latching. Otherwise, it latches on, you have to hit it again to “undo the latch” and then hit it again to turn it off. If set to momentary then it sends the signal to activate the solo
The Solo will get ON or OFF the moment value of CC#83 is changed to 127, so it’s necessary to set the switch behavior of the MIDI source to MOMENTARY.
Note: For some 3rd party other brand devices or MIDI controllers, there may not be a default MIDI Momentary CC# option, so in order to recreate a MIDI Momentary CC switch, for those controllers:
- Program the DOWN PRESS of the switch to send the MIDI CC#83 + VALUE: 127,
- Upon RELEASE UP of the switch to send MIDI CC#83 + VALUE: 0.
This will recreate a MIDI CC# 127/0 Momentary type switch necessary for Roland BOSS gear MIDI RX/receive.
