The U-220 allows you to back up or transfer settings and patch data using system exclusive (SysEx) messages. When loading data that was backed up to a sequencer or settings from another U-220, please follow the steps below.
- Connect a MIDI cable from the MIDI OUT of the sending device (e.g., a sequencer) to the MIDI IN of the U-220.
- Begin sending the SysEx data from the external MIDI device.
- When data is being received by the U-220, the display will read: Receiving SysEx.
- When the display returns to the patch window, press the VALUE up or down button to confirm that new data has been loaded.
- If the new patches are not available, confirm that the U-220 is properly set up to accept SysEx MIDI data:
- Press the EDIT button.
- Use the CURSOR buttons to select "Setup" and press ENTER.
- Use the CURSOR buttons to select "MIDI" and press ENTER.
- Find the setting RX SysEx = ? and set it to On using the VALUE buttons.
- Find RX SysEx Device ID = ? and set it to 17 using the VALUE buttons.
