Most all BOSS RC loopers will display "UNSUPPORTED FILE" or "unSupportFormat" (RC-300) if you attempt to import an audio file that isn't in the correct format.
- The RC-600 / RC-500 / RC-5 can read/import: Stereo .WAV format audio files, that are 32-bit float/24bit, with a sample rate of 44.1kHz.
- The RC-300 can read/import: Stereo .WAV format audio files, that are 16-bit, with a sample rate of 44.1kHz.
Audio that was purchased from an online music store such as Amazon or iTunes, or ripped from a CD maybe the incorrect format .MP3 or .M4A audio files and will not import into your RC looper. You can use iTunes, Windows Media Player, Audacity, or other DAW audio software, or online audio converter, available on the internet, to convert the audio files to the specified .WAV format and specs. Refer to your program's documentation on how to perform this conversion.
If moving from an older RC unit to a newer one, for example an RC-300 > RC-600. You can use the BOSS TONE STUDIO for RC software tool to help convert, and import your older RC-300 .WAV audio loops > into the newer RC-600. This software will be found on the BOSS RC-5 / RC-500 / RC-600 / RC-505 MKII >
DOWNLOADS page, for example the RC-600 Downloads page here.
If you're sure you have the correct audio file type, and it still won't import into the RC looper, then the file may have hidden embedded metadata, or "tags," that are causing the error. This can happen with files that have been exported from DAWs ("Digital Audio Workstations"), other audio programs, or sample libraries. You can strip this extra information from the file by converting it to Apple Lossless or FLAC format. After removing the information, convert that file back to .WAV once again.
