The Roland GR-30s Patches consist of up to two Tones. You can combine the two
Tones to create what is known as a "Layered Patch", such as Piano and Strings,
or Nylon Guitar and Strings. Use the following procedure to create a Piano and
Strings Layered Patch:
1) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to select Patch A72.
2) Use the EDIT TARGET dial to select 1st TONE.
3) Use the PARAMETER SELECT dial to select [A] for TONE#.
4) Press the EDIT/PLAY button.
5) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to select '1' (ACOUSTIC PIANO), which
represents the first of 384 tones.
6) Use the EDIT TARGET dial to select 2nd TONE.
7) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to select '300' (JP STRINGS).
8) Use the EDIT TARGET select TONE MIX and the PARAMETER SELECT to [A] for
LAYER.
9) Use the STRING SELECT knob to select ALL.
10) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to select 'A-b' which allows both Tones to be
triggered on all strings.
11) Use the PARAMETER SELECT dial to select [D] for 1:2 BAL.
12) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to adjust the BALANCE between the two Tones
(select '0' for an equal balance).
13) Play the guitar to audition the Piano and Strings Layered Patch.
14) Use the PARAMETER SELECT dial to select WRITE TO and use the [-] or [+]
buttons to select a Patch location. (Remember that this procedure will
overwrite the old Patch in this location).
15) Use the PARAMETER SELECT dial to select WRITE PATCH and press the [-] and
[+] buttons simultaneously to write the patch into memory. You now have a
Layered Patch that layers Acoustic Piano with JP Strings.
