The BR-864 has the ability to export audio tracks as either .wav or .aiff files. These files are both universally understood audio formats, readable by any number of audio applications. Tracks can either be exported individually, or in pairs.
The primary intent of track exporting is to allow you to take a 2-track mix of your song and ultimately burn it to CD using a computer. However, you can also export the individual tracks out to be edited or mixed in a software application (ie: Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Cakewalk, etc.).
Regarless of which method you choose, the steps are the same.
**** IN THIS PROCESS TRACKS ARE CONVERTED TO .WAV OR .AIFF AND STORED ON THE MEMORY CARD. YOU MUST MAKE CERTAIN THAT SUFFICIENT ROOM EXSISTS ON THE CARD TO ACCOMODATE THE RESULTING FILE****
1. Press the USB button.
2. Turn the TIME/VALUE dial until "EXPORT" appears in the display, and then press ENTER.
3. The next display allows you to select .WAV or .AIFF. Turn te TIME/VALUE dial to make the desired selection and press ENTER.

Please note; .wav and .aiff files can only be made one at a time. As such you choose an individual track (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,or 8), or a track pair (1-2,3-4,5-6,or 7-8). Once exported, you can choose other files through the same process and export them out as well.
Once you choose the desired track(s), press ENTER.
5. The screen should now say "FILE CREATING". Once complete, you can take the files to your computer.
6. Navigate to the BR-864 drive on your computer (it may be on the desktop, or it may be under "My Computer" and be listed as an "F" or "H" drive).
7. Inside, you should see a ROLAND folder, and in that folder resides another folder, USB. It is here that you will find your converted files. Drag them to your desktop.
You are now ready to open your favorite CD Burning or Audio Editing Application, and use the files as you will.
