Some of the factory PRESET patches in the GR-55 have the CTL pedal and/or EXP SW assigned to control various functions, for example, the PCM Tone ON/OFF switching.
A function of this nature can make it appear that the USER parameters are not being stored in the patch. To turn off the pre-assigned CTL and/or EXP SW functions, follow these steps.
- Select the desired USER patch.
- Press the [EDIT] button.
- Press PAGE LEFT/RIGHT [<][ >] buttons below the scroll wheel, to select the MASTER menu tab, and then press the [ENTER].
- Navigate the cursor left to "PEDAL/GK CTL," and then press the [ENTER] button.
- Cursor down to "CTL FUNCTION," using the cursor controls around the scroll dial and then turn the dial counterclockwise to select, and set it OFF.
- Press PAGE RIGHT [>] button, to select the EXP SW tab.
- Navigate the cursor down to "EXP SW FUNCTION," using the cursor controls around the scroll dial, and then turn the dial counterclockwise to select "OFF."
- WRITE/save this new setting into the patch by pressing [WRITE]/save button twice.
NOTE: Some patches may also contain assignments in the ASSIGN section that can effect custom stored parameters. If the above steps don't help with your patch, go to the ASSIGN menu, turn off each Assignment in the patch, and then [WRITE]/save the settings by pressing the [WRITE]/save button twice.
TIP: For the GR-55, the SYSTEM menu is the system/global menu, and changes apply to all patches globally. Customized adjustments are, "set it forget it" not necessary to WRITE/save the settings, they'll be automatically stored.
If in the MASTER > PEDAL/GK CTL menu if the parameters (CTL, EXP SW, GK S1/S2, EXP, EXP ON, GK VOL): show SYSTEM, then it is blocked by the SYSTEM menu, and this is the method to transfer SYSTEM > to MASTER/Memory patch control for the unique MASTER/Memory Patch parameter customization.
The MASTER menu, can be considered, the Memory patch menu, and changes will apply to only the current specific USER PATCH, and changes need to be WRITE/saved.
So in some cases, the user may first need to go into the SYSTEM menu > PEDAL/GK CTL menu > parameters (CTL, EXP SW, GK S1/S2, EXP, EXP ON, GK VOL): and set it to MASTER (or Memory Patch), this relinquishes SYSTEM's control of the PARAMETER, thus the user is free to then customize the MASTER: PEDAL/GK CTL menu and set unique functions, for that specific USER PATCH.
Remember making customizations to the MASTER menu to WRITE/save the changes to a USER PATCH, by pressing the [WRITE] button twice.
