The BR-80 allows simultaneous playback of eight tracks while in Multi-Track Mode (MTR Mode). When you run out of tracks to record onto, the BR-80 also lets you combine the recordings of multiple tracks together onto one track (or to a stereo track) using a function called "Bounce." Bouncing allows you to free up other tracks so you can record additional performances.
While in Bounce mode, anything that you hear playing from the BR-80 can be recorded to a single track (i.e. all eight tracks as well as the built-in backing and rhythm patterns). Follow these steps to bounce tracks on the BR-80:
1. Adjust the volume, pan, and reverb for all of tracks as desired.
2. Press the MENU button.
3. Use the cursor buttons to select “MASTERING/BOUNCE” and then press ENTER.
4. Use the cursor buttons to select “BOUNCE” and then press ENTER.
5. Use the cursor buttons to select the item that you want to edit and then use the dial to edit the setting.
Parameter explanations:
"DEST" - Specifies the bounce destination V-track. This is what track your bounce will be recorded to. Note, if you would like to bounce in stereo, use the dial select "TR12" (tracks 1&2), "TR34" (tracks 3&4), "TR56" (tracks 5&6), or "TR78" (tracks 7&8).
"START" - Specifies the location of where the bounce will begin recording.
"END" - Specifies the location of where the bounce will end (stop) recording.
6. Press the REC button. The BR-80 will enter recording standby mode.
7. Press PLAY. The bounce process begins and the tracks playing are recorded onto the track that you specified for "DEST" in Step 5 above.
When the process is complete, the BR-80 will stop automatically at the specified time that was set for "END."
To hear your new bounced track:
1. Hold STOP and press (<<) to return to the beginning of the song.
2. Press the down cursor button nine times to view the “V-TRACK” menu.
3. Use the left and right cursor buttons to select the track that you bounced to and then use the data dial to change to the bounced V-Track. This will be the V-Track that you specified in the "DEST" field within the Bounce menu.
4. Use the left and right cursor buttons to select the remaining tracks, one by one, and then use the dial to change them to empty V-Tracks.
Note: A dash in the V-Track grid indicates that a V-Track already contains data. A dot indicates an empty V-Track.
5. Press PLAY to hear your new bounced track. You may now record additional performances on the remaining tracks while hearing the new bounced track play.
