There are two types of effects: loop effects and insert effects. Loop effects are time-based effects such as reverbs and delays and utilize the FX buss. There are a few parts to setting up internal loop effects: choosing the effect, applying it and raising the effects return.
Choosing the effect:
1. Hold down the SHIFT button and press the F3[EFFECT] button.
2. Select which processor you want to use. If you only have one effects board in the unit, you will choose between FX1 and FX2.
3. Press F1 to select "Patch".
4. Use the TIME/VALUE dial to highlight the desired effect.
5. Press F5 for "Select" to choose that highlighted effect.
6. Press HOME to return to the main screen.
Applying the effect:
1. Press the CH EDIT button for which track you wish to add the effect. This will take you to the Track Mixer screen for that track.
3. Cursor to the FX box for which processor you assigned the effect. For instance, FX1 or FX2. These are your effect sends and adjust the individual levels going to the effect.
4. Cursor to the "- infinity" sign and use the TIME/VALUE dial to change the value of the FX SEND. A good testing value would be "0.0".
5. Press the HOME button to return to the main screen.
Raising the FX Return:
1. Press and hold the FX processor's button. For example, press and hold FX1 to access the parameters for the FX1 return.
2. Adjust the fader value for the amount of the effect you wish to return to the Master buss.
NOTE: As a default setting on the VS-2000CD, the effect return channels are set to 0.0 dB. The FX Return adjusts the overall volume for that processor.
