To setup the Fantom as a sound source for any external sequencer workstation make the following settings.
1. Connect the MIDI OUT of the Fantom to the MV-8000 or the MPC's MIDI IN.
2. Go to SOUND from the MENU screen and turn the LOCAL SWITCH to OFF
3. Put the keyboard in Multi-Timbre mode and select a sequencer template.
For the Fantom/FA-76:Press MODE Button and Select MULTITIMBRE and turn dial to PRST:01 FANTOM TEMP
For the Fantom-S/S-88: Press LAYER/SPLIT button and turn dial to PRST:01 SEQ TEMPLETE
For the Fantom-X6/7/8: Press LAYER/SPLIT button and turn dial to PRST:01 SEQ TEMPLETE
4. Connect the audio outputs (Mix L/R) to an amplifier or mixer. You could also use headphones to monitor your sound.
Here are the settings for sequencing if you are connecting your Fantom to an MV-8000.
1. Connect MIDI OUT A or MIDI OUT B to the MIDI IN on the Fantom.
2. Press the SEQUENCE button and then CURSOR to one of your MIDI tracks.
3. Press F2 (Track Param) In the MIDI box select the output (A or B) and the MIDI channel that you want to use for this track.
Note: By default, if you select MIDI channel 1 you will be triggering sounds on Part 1 of the Fantom. Channel 2 will access Part 2 and so on...
Here are the settings if you are using an MPC with the Fantom.
1.Connect the MIDI OUT A or MIDI OUT B to the MIDI IN on the Fantom.
2. On the MPC CURSOR down to Drum1 and use the VALUE wheel to change it to MIDI.
3. CURSOR to the right and use the VALUE wheel to select the MIDI channel and MIDI OUT. (A or B)
Note: By default, if you select MIDI channel 1 you will be triggering sounds on Part 1 of the Fantom. Channel 2 will access Part 2 and so on...
