The Roland GR-30s Patches consist of up to two Tones. You can assign each of
these Tones to any of your six guitar strings. For example, you can assign an
Upright Bass Tone to strings 5 and 6, and a B3 Organ Tone to strings 1 through
4, resulting in what is known as a "Split Patch". Use the following procedure
to create a Split Patch:
1) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to select patch E83.
2) Use the EDIT TARGET dial to select 1st TONE.
3) Use the PARAMETER SELECT dial to select [A] for TONE#.
4) Press the EDIT/PLAY button.
5) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to select "37" (B3 ORGAN).
6) Use the EDIT TARGET dial to select 2nd TONE.
7) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to select "93" (UPRIGHT BASS).
8) Use the EDIT TARGET to select TONE MIX.
9) Use the STRING SELECT knob to select "6-5".
10) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to select "L-2" which allows the 2nd Tone
(UPRIGHT BASS) to be triggered by strings 5 and 6 only.
NOTE: Because strings 1 through 4 already have the B3 ORGAN tone assigned to
them, there is no need to make this assignment
11) Use the PARAMETER SELECT dial to select [D] for 1:2 BAL.
12) Use the [-] or [+] buttons to adjust the BALANCE between the two Tones
(select '0' for an equal balance).
13) Play the guitar to audition the B3 and Upright Bass Split Patch.
14) Use the PARAMETER SELECT dial to select 'WRITE TO' and use the [-] or [+]
buttons to select a Patch location. (Remember that this procedure will
overwrite the old Patch in this location).
15) Use the PARAMETER SELECT dial to select 'WRITE PATCH' and press the [-] and
[+] buttons simultaneously to WRITE the patch into memory. You now have a Split
Patch that splits the guitar into B3 Organ and Upright Bass.
