MIDI sound devices require up to three MIDI messages to select sounds remotely through MIDI: CC#00 (also known as Bank Select MSB), CC#32 (Bank Select LSB) and PC or PG (Program Change.) Each event must also include a specific "value." The correct values are usually found in the Owner's Manual for each product. These messages are inserted in the MC-50 using the "Create Event" function. Use the following procedure to insert CC#00, CC#32, and Program Change messages at the beginning of a song:
1) Press RESET to return to the beginning of the song.
2) Press MICROSCOPE.
3) Press a TRACK button to select the destination track.
4) Press EDIT.
5) Use the DIAL to display "EDIT 3 CREATE Event," then press ENTER.
6) Use the DIAL to select "CC," then press ENTER.
7) Use the DIAL to select the desired MIDI channel, then press ENTER.
8) Use the DIAL to select "0," then press ENTER.
9) Use the DIAL to select the desired CC00 (Bank Select MSB) value, then press
ENTER.
10) Press numeric keypad #1 to advance the clock by one "tick," then press
ENTER.
11) Press EDIT.
12) Use the DIAL to display "EDIT 3 CREATE Event," then press ENTER.
13) Use the DIAL to select "CC," then press ENTER.
14) Use the DIAL to select the same MIDI channel as step 7, then press ENTER.
15) Use the DIAL to select "32," then press ENTER.
16) Use the DIAL to select the desired CC32 (Bank Select LSB) value, then
press ENTER.
17) Press numeric keypad #2 to advance the clock by another "tick," then press
ENTER.
18) Press EDIT.
19) Use the DIAL to display "EDIT 3 CREATE Event," then press ENTER.
20) Use the DIAL to select "PG," then press ENTER.
21) Use the DIAL to select the same MIDI channel as step 7, then press ENTER.
22) Use the DIAL to select the desired program change value, then press ENTER.
23) Repeat steps 3-22 to insert events on additional MIDI channels.
24) Press STOP to return to the Standby display.
