The Roland R-5, R-8 and R-8MkII have two assign types available for each
instrument, POLY or MONO. Selecting POLY allows notes to sound out without
being cut off by a subsequent note. Selecting MONO will allow a note to be cut
off by a subsequent note. This is useful when a closed hi-hat sound is used to
"cut off" the sound of an open hi-hat. Use the following procedure to select an
assign type:
1) Press SOUND under EDIT.
2) Press 1 to select "EDIT."
3) Tap the pad that triggers the instrument you wish to edit.
4) Use the SELECT button to select "ASSIGN."
5) Use the ON/OFF [+ or -] buttons or VALUE slider to select POLY or MONO.
