Although you can use the VGA-7 with a guitar that has only regular guitar pickups, its amazing COSM guitar effects are available only when your guitar has a GK-2A pickup (sold separately) installed. If your guitar does have a GK-2A pickup, you can use it along with its regular pickups, selecting one amplifier for the GK-2A, another for the regular pickups, and layering them together.
