There are six different record modes on the the VSR-880.
1) VSR mode is a 24 bit linear recording mode. Using VSR mode is the highest quality however EQ is not available.
Note: If you are using direct out mode in and out of an external mixer you are not using the internal EQ anyway.
2) CDR mode is a 16 bit linear recording mode. Track channels are stereo pairs in this mode.
3)MAS mode is a 16 bit linear record mode. Tracks can be single tracks.
4)MT1 Multitrack pro is a 16 bit record mode that uses RDAC encoding to allow for more recording time.
5)MT1 mode is a 16 bit record mode that also uses further data compression (also RDAC) to allow for even more record time.
6)LIV1 Live mode is a 16 bit record mode to allow for maximum record time by using RDAC.
