You can use Phrase Trim In and Trim Out to define the length of a phrase, or to delete unwanted material from the beginning or end of a phrase. For example, this can be useful for getting rid of unwanted amp noise at the end of a guitar track, or creating a phrase of a specific length to easily move or copy to other areas of your song.
1. Press the [TRACK] button under the MENU section. (On the VS-2400 press and hold [SHIFT], then press [TRACK].
2. Press [F6] so that the LCD screen displays the TRACK PHRASE EDIT MENU.
3. To TRIM IN (deleting unwated material from the beginning of a phrase), use the [ARROW/CURSOR] buttons to navigate down to TRIM IN (item 3 of the menu).
4. Press [ENTER]
5. The Status light for all of your tracks will begin flashing green. Select the Track where the Phrase that you want to TRIM is on by pressing it's corresponding [TRACK STATUS] button.
6. Use your [ARROW/CURSOR] buttons and [TIME/VALUE DIAL] to change the time in the "TO" box at the top of the screen. The "TO" time is the time that you want the Phrase to actually start.
NOTE : If you want to be exactly sure that your "TO" time is correct, use the [SCRUB], [TO], [THRU], [FROM] buttons in the PREVIEW section to pinpoint where you want the phrase to start.
7. Press [F5] OK. A dialog box will appear on your screen asking "Phrase Trim In OK? Yes/No". Press [YES].
To TRIM OUT (deleting unwanted material at the end of a phrase), do the following :
1. Press the [TRACK] button under the MENU section. (On the VS-2400 press and hold [SHIFT], then press [TRACK].
2. Press [F6] so that the LCD screen displays the TRACK PHRASE EDIT MENU.
3. Use the [ARROW/CURSOR] buttons to navigate down to TRIM OUT (item 4 of the menu).
4. Press [ENTER]
5. The Status light for all of your tracks will begin flashing green. Select the Track where the Phrase that you want to TRIM is on by pressing it's corresponding [TRACK STATUS] button.
6. Use your [ARROW/CURSOR] buttons and [TIME/VALUE DIAL] to change the time in the "TO" box at the top of the screen. This time the "TO" represents the time that you want the Phrase to end.
7. Press [F5] OK. A dialog box will appear on your screen asking "Phrase Trim OUT OK? Yes/No". Press [YES].
Now you'll have a clean, defined phrase that you can easily move or copy to other parts of your song.
