The BR Wav Converter software provides an easy and fast way to convert tracks from your BR recorder into Wav files which can be used on your computer or convert wav files into tracks on your BR. Your BR recorder can do these functions internally through Import/Export, however, the BR Wav Converter does this procedure on your computer instead of within the BR, speeding the process. The Wav Converter will also work on a BR recorder with a full memory card, which the Export function will not. You may download the BR Wav Converter software by clicking here.
EXPORTING FROM BR TO YOUR COMPUTER
- Connect a USB cable between the computer and the BR-900CD.
- Put the BR into USB Backup mode by pressing the Utility button. Cursor to USB and press ENTER. Turn the wheel to select BACKUP and press ENTER.
- After a few moments, the BR-900CD appears as an external drive on your computer.
Note: On Windows, the BR-900CD may appear on your computer with an external drive letter (for example: E: or F:). You can close any windows that open automatically, but you’ll need to know this drive letter in Step 5 below. - Launch the BR WAV converter software by double clicking the "BRWC" icon on your computer.
Note: The BRWC software is provided as a .zip or .sit file you'll need to extract before using. - Once the BR WAV converter program is open, use the Drive menu to select the BR-900CD drive you identified in Step 3.
- Select the song you wish to work with from the Song menu.
Note: Green squares appear on a grid that shows you the V-Tracks in your song.
The horizontal columns—from left to right—represent the Tracks:
The vertical columns—from top to bottom—represent the V.Tracks (virtual tracks):
For example: Each of the green squares in the image above represents V-Track 1 for each Track 1 through Track 8. - If you wish to export an odd/even pair of tracks in stereo, link them by clicking the L/R button at the bottom of their column. For example: If you bounced your song to TR78-V1, you would click the L/R button on the bottom of Columns 7 and 8.
- Click the track(s) you wish to export—they change to orange.
Tip: You can also click the ALL button to select all tracks for exporting. - Click EXPORT and then click GO.
- Select the destination folder. If you’re unsure where to save your exported file(s), choose "DESKTOP."
- Type a file name of your choice into the FILENAME box, and then click SAVE. (If you're exporting multiple V-Tracks, they'll share this name in addition to their individual track and V-Track numbers.)
Your BR-900CD V-Tracks have been converted into .WAV files and are now on your computer’s desktop.
- Quit the BR Wav Converter software. On the BR-900CD, press EXIT, and then ENTER to safely eject the recorder from your computer.
IMPORTING FROM YOUR COMPUTER TO YOUR BR
IMPORTANT NOTES: You’ll need have a song on your BR to put the files in. You can make a new song or import to an existing song.
- Put the BR into USB Backup mode by pressing the Utility button. Cursor to USB and press ENTER. Turn the wheel to select BACKUP and press ENTER.
- Connect the USB cable to your computer. The BR will appear on your computer with a drive letter (ie: E: or F:) You can close any windows that open, but you’ll need to know this drive letter in Step 4.
- Run the BR WAV Converter by double clicking it. NOTE: The BRWC is given to you in a .zip or .sit file which you will need to extract before use.
- Using the Drive Pulldown Box in the top left-hand corner of the screen, select the drive letter associated with the BR during step 2.
- Using the Song Pulldown Box, select the song you wish to work with.
- The squares in the grid represent each of the tracks in your song. If you’re importing into an existing song, any existing tracks will be green. The columns (up and down) represent the tracks. The top square in each column is V-Track 1 and each row represents the other V-Tracks. In other words, the second square down in the first column is track 1-V2.
- Click the track or tracks you wish to import to. It should turn orange. If it’s a stereo track, make sure both sides are orange.
- Click IMPORT in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
- Click GO.
You will be prompted to browse for a Wav file. Browse to the file you’d like to import and click Open.
NOTE: The audio file that you are trying to import must be a WAV file that compatible with the specifications above. If the file(s) that you are trying to import are not this format, you will need to use conversion software (e.g. iTunes) to convert the audio file to a WAV format. - Close the BR Wav Converter software and make sure you use Safely Remove Hardware or Eject before removing the USB connection.
