Although the MICRO BR BR-80 is an eight-track recorder in MTR Mode (Multi-Track Mode), each of these eight tracks actually consists of eight layers of tracks called V-Tracks (virtual tracks). The first audio that you record on any of the eight tracks is V-Track 1 (“V1”). The default is then (Track 1 – V1), (Track 2 – V1), (Track 3 – V1)…(Track 8 –V1).
For example: If you record a take on (Track 1 – V1) and then decide that you want to record an alternate take without erasing the first take, you can change the V-Track of Track 1 to (Track 1 – V2) and then record a new take without affecting the original take. You can later decide which take is the best for playback and simply change the V-Track to the desired take.
Note: each of the eight tracks in the MICRO BR BR-80 can play back no more than one of their V-Tracks at one time. In the example above, you would have to choose either (Track - V1) OR (Track 1 - V2)--they cannot be played simultaneously.
To change a V-Track, use the following steps.
- Press the power button a number of times until the MTR indicator is lit.
- Press the EXIT button a few times to view the main screen.
- Press the down cursor button nine times to view the “V-TRACK” menu.
- Use the left and right cursor buttons to select the track that you would like to adjust and then use the data dial to change its V-Track.
Note: A dash in the V-Track grid indicates that a V-Track already contains data. A dot indicates an empty V-Track. - Press EXIT.
