EZ Compose is a group of functions that lets you create a rhythm pattern simply by making a few settings on the screen--instead of inputting each individual note of the rhythm. The following article will guide you through using the EZ Compose function.
- Press the ARRANGEMENT / PATTERN button in the PROGRAMMABLE RHYTHM section so that ARRANGEMENT is illuminated.
- Press the EDIT button within the PROGRAMMABLE RHYTHM section. The “ARRANGE” window will appear.
- Press the up CURSOR button and then press the left CURSOR button to select the letter "P", "U" or "S".
- Turn the TIME/VALUE dial to select “U001” on the screen and then press F3(WR.CPY.DEL).
- Press F2(DELETE) and then press F3 twice.
Note: this will erase any programming that you have created on Arrangement U001. - Now that you have an empty Arrangement to start from (i.e. U001), press the EZ COMPOSE button. The “EZ COMPOSE: PATTERN” page appears.
- Use the CURSOR buttons and the TIME/VALUE dial to select the HH CYM, KICK/SNR and BASS “TYPE” and “No” (number) that you would like to use.
- Use the CURSOR buttons to select “MEAS” at the top of the screen.
- Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select the amount of measures that you would like these pattern types (i.e. HH CYM, KICK/SNR and BASS) to play for. For example, if you would like these patterns to play for 8 measures, turn the VALUE/DIAL to select “8”.
- Press F3(WRITE).
- Use the CURSOR buttons to select “MEAS” and then use the TIME/VALUE dial to select “1”. This means that the EZ COMPOSE function will place the patterns starting on measure 1 (the beginning of the song/recording).
- Press F3(GO). The patterns that you had selected on the previous “EZ COMPOSE: PATTERN” page will be inserted.
- Press the EDIT button within the PROGRAMMABLE RHYTHM section. The “ARRANGE” window will appear.
- Press the F3(WR.CPY.DEL) button and then press F3(GO). Your new Arrangement has been created and stored.
