The following article will guide you through importing an MP3 file into the BR-80’s MTR (Multi-Track Record) mode. This is useful if you would like to record additional music tracks with an MP3 song file.
Note: The MTR mode of the BR-80 is compatible with WAV format only--MP3 files must be imported/converted from LIVE REC or eBAND modes. In the following example, you will be importing the MP3 file into the LIVE REC mode, which is compatible with MP3 files, and then import the file from LIVE REC mode into MTR mode.
A. Setting Your BR-80 into USB "Storage" Mode:
- Press the MENU button.
- Cursor to "Function" and then press ENTER.
- Cursor to "USB" and then press ENTER.
- Use the dial to specify "STORAGE" and then press ENTER.
A message will appear: "Please restart to change the USB mode." - Press ENTER.
- Power off the BR-80 and then turn the power back on.
B. Importing Your MP3 Files into the BR-80’s LIVE REC Mode:
- Connect a USB cable to the BR-80 and your computer. A window will appear on your computer showing the contents of the BR-80’s memory card.
Note: If a window does not appear:

Click on the Windows (or Start) icon on the bottom left of the screen, click on “Computer” and then click on the “BR-80 EBAND” drive in “Devices with Removable Storage.”

Double-click on the "BR-80 EBAND" drive on your desktop. - Open the “ROLAND” folder.
- Open the “LIVEREC” folder. Any existing audio files in the LIVE REC mode of the BR-80 will appear in the window.
- Drag your MP3 file into the LIVEREC folder.
- Properly eject the BR-80 from your computer as follows:

Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to un-mount the USB memory and then disconnect the USB memory from your computer.

Drag the Drive icon of the USB memory into the trash in the dock and then remove the USB memory from your computer. - Disconnect the USB cable from the BR-80.
C. Importing the MP3 file into MTR Mode:
- Press the power button until LIVE REC mode is selected.
- Turn the data dial to select the MP3 file that you have imported from your computer.
- Press the power button until MTR mode is selected.
- Press the MENU button.
- Cursor to “TRACK EDIT” and then press ENTER.
- Cursor to WAV IMPORT and then press ENTER.
- Turn the data dial to select “LIVE REC CURRENT SONG” in the “SOURCE” section.
- Cursor down to the “DEST” section and then turn the data dial to select the destination track of the MP3 import. For example: “TR12 – V1” will import the MP3 file into Tracks 1 and 2 Virtual Track 1.
- Press ENTER three times. The MP3 file will be imported into the track(s) that you set in “DEST”.
