The V-STUDIO 20 can be used as a control surface and audio interface to Sonar X3, X2 and X1. The following steps will guide you through setting up the V-STUDIO 20 in Sonar X3, X2 and X1.
Note: The V-STUDIO 20 Driver Software must be installed prior to performing the setup below. If you haven't yet installed this driver software, follow the instructions found in the “V-STUDIO 20 Software and Driver Installation” article by clicking here.
Sonar X2/X1 Software Setup
- Connect the V-STUDIO 20 to your computer via USB.
- Launch the Sonar software.
- Click on “Edit” at the top of the screen, and then select “Preferences…”
- Audio Setup:
a. Under the "Audio" section on the left panel, click on "Devices".
b. Select "VS-20 IN" and "VS-20 OUT" for both the "Input Devices" and "Output Devices". A check-mark should appear next to each.
c. Click "Apply".
e. Under the "Audio" section on the left panel, click on "Driver Settings".
f. Use the associated drop-down menus to make the following settings:
- Playback Timing Master: “VS-20 OUT”
- Recording Timing Master: “VS-20 IN”
g. Click on "Apply". - Control Surface Setup:
a. Under the "MIDI" section on the left panel, click on "Devices".
b. Select "VS-20 DAW Control" for both the "Inputs" and "Outputs". A check-mark should appear next to each.
c. Click on “Apply”.
d. Under the "MIDI" section on the left panel, click on "Control Surfaces".
e. Click the "Add New Controller/Surface" button to open the “Controller/Surface Settings” dialog.
f. In the “Controller/Surface” box, select “VS-20”.
g. Assign both “Input Port” and “Output Port” to “VS-20 DAW Control”
h. Click "OK" and then click on "Close" to close the “Controller/Surface Settings” dialog.
The V-STUDIO 20 is now configured to be used with Sonar software.
