If you have backup files from the BR-600/BR-900CD, you may transfer the tracks from these backups to the newer BR-800. Although their backup files are not compatible, you may pass WAV files from one to another using the BR WAV Converter software. The following procedure will guide you through this process.
Note: WAV file audio tracks are the only files that can be transferred from the BR-600/BR-900CD to the BR-800. Effect settings, pan settings, etc cannot be transferred.

EXPORTING TRACKS FROM THE BR-600/BR-900CD AS WAV FILES

A. If you still have a BR-600/BR-900CD:
i. Connect a USB cable to the BR-600/BR-900CD and your computer
ii. Press UTILITY, CURSOR to “USB” and then press ENTER.
iii. Turn the data dial to select “BACKUP” and then press ENTER.
B. If you no longer have a BR-600/BR-900CD but have backup files on your computer:
i. Connect a USB memory to your computer and view it's contents in a window.
ii. Delete all contents in the USB memory window. Note: Backup any data that you need prior to erasing these files.
iii. Drag the BR-600/BR-900CD’s "ROLAND" folder backup directly into the USB Memory window.
The "ROLAND" folder backup contents will be copied onto the USB memory drive.
Note: The BR-800 may appear on your computer with a drive letter (ie: E: or F:). You can close any windows that open, but you’ll need to know this drive letter in Step 6. -
Launch the BR WAV Converter software by double-clicking BRWC icon on your computer.

Using the Drive pulldown menu in the top left-hand corner of the screen, select the drive of the BR-600/BR-900CD or the USB drive connected.

Using the Song pull-down menu, select the song you wish to work with.
Note: Green squares appear on a grid that shows you the V-Tracks in your song.
The horizontal columns—from left to right—represent the Tracks:
The vertical columns—from top to bottom—represent the V.Tracks:
Note: Each of the green squares in the image above represents V-Track 1 for each Track 1 through Track 8. - if you wish to export an odd/even pair of tracks in stereo, link them by clicking the L/R button at the bottom of their column. For example: If you mastered your song to TR78-VMST, you would click the L/R button on the bottom of Columns 7 and 8.
- Click the track(s) you wish to export—they change to orange.
Tip: You can also click the ALL button to select all tracks for exporting. - Click EXPORT and then click GO.
- Select the destination folder as "DESKTOP" to save your exported file(s).
- Type a file name of your choice into the FILENAME box, and then click SAVE. (If you're exporting multiple V-Tracks, they'll share this name in addition to their individual track and V-Track numbers.) Your BR-600/BR-900CD V-Tracks have been converted into .WAV files and are now on your computer’s desktop. Next, you will use the BR WAV Converter software to import these tracks into the BR-800.

Close down the BR WAV Converter software.
IMPORTING WAV FILES FROM YOUR COMPUTER INTO THE BR-800.
Note: You’ll need have a song on your BR-800 to put the files in. You can make a new song or import them into an existing song.

Connect a USB cable between the computer and the BR-800.

Press the BR-800's the MENU button.

Cursor to "USB," and then press ENTER.

Cursor to "WAV CONVERTER," and then press ENTER twice.
Note: The BR-800 may appear on your computer with a drive letter (ie: E: or F:). You can close any windows that open, but you’ll need to know this drive letter in Step 6. -
Launch the BR WAV Converter software by double-clicking BRWC icon on your computer.

Once the BR WAV converter program is open, use the Drive menu at the top left of the screen to select the BR-800 drive you identified in Step 4.

Select the song you wish to work with from the Song menu.

Click the track(s) you wish to import to—they change to orange. If it’s a stereo track, make sure both sides are orange.

Click IMPORT in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

Click GO.

You'll be prompted to browse for a .WAV file. Locate and select the files on your desktop that you exported from the BR-600/BR-900CD and then click Open.
That’s it! The .WAV file is converted into a V-Track on your BR-800! -
Close the BR Wav Converter software. On the BR-800, press EXIT and then ENTER to safely eject the recorder from your computer.
