The following are internal and external hard drive (HDD) specifications for the VS-1680, VS-1880 and the VS-1824CD:
Where to Find a Drive?
- Most hard drive manufacturers stopped producing these drives years ago and we no longer have a resource for where to acquire a new hard drive. Please contact an online electronic store retailer for assistance.
- Due to the age of the VS recorders, Roland no longer carries or stocks these hard drives.
Hard Drive Specifications:
- 2.5" IDE drive (Also known as Parallel ATA).
- 16GB maximum
Larger drives are not compatible. - Any standard drive speed, buffer and cache specification is compatible.
- Recommended brands at the time that the VS recorders were produced were Maxtor, Seagate and IBM.
- The VS recorder formats the hard drive into a maximum of 2GB partition size.
Note:
- The internal hard drive is not considered to be "user" replaceable since the unit would need to be taken apart to access it. Like other manufacturers in the industry, we are unable to offer instructions regarding opening up a product--because of safety and liability reasons.
