The process for backing up COSM Effect patches that you have created depends on whether they have been stored as "User Patches" (e.g. U001) or "Song Patches" (e.g. S001). User patches can be loaded into any song in the hard drive while Song patches can only be used in the song file that the Song patch was stored in.
Backup up User Effect Patches:

Insert an empty CD-R/RW disc into the BR-1600CD’s CD-R/RW drive.

Press CD-R/RW [DATA SAVE/LOAD].

Press [F1] (BACKUP) or move the cursor to the BACKUP icon, and then press [ENTER/YES].

Press [F2] (USER) or move the cursor to USER, and then press [ENTER/YES].

Move the cursor to the type of data you want to back up and press [F1] (SELECT).

When you have selected all of the data you want to back up, press [F4] (GO).

Press ENTER three times.
NOTE: The process above will only backup User Patch settings. If you need to backup entire song data, follow the procedure below.
Backing up Song Effect Patches:
In order to backup Song Patches, you will need to backup the entire song.

Insert an empty CD-R/RW disc into the BR-1600CD’s CD-R/RW drive.

Press CD-R/RW [DATA SAVE/LOAD].

Press [F1] (BACKUP) or move the cursor to the BACKUP icon, and then press [ENTER/YES].

Press [F1] (SONG) or move the cursor to SONG, and then press [ENTER/YES].

Move the cursor to the song you want to back up and press [F1] (SELECT).

When you have selected all of the songs you want to back up, press [F4] (GO).

Press ENTER three times.
