If your unit will not power on at all, the following is troubleshooting information to help you:

If you are using batteries:

Trying brand new, unused Alkaline (non-rechargeable) batteries. Note: the R-09HR and R-09 are compatible with Alkaline and Nickel-metal hydride batteries only--Lithium or other battery types are not compatible.

If you are using a power supply:

Be sure that you are using a Roland PSB-6U or UDC-25 power supply only. 3rd party power supplies can cause the unit to not operate properly.

If using a PSB-6U, be sure that the PSB-6U's power cable is connected securely to the power supply box itself:
You can also try disconnecting the power supply from the R-09HR/R-09 and then reconnecting. -
If the problem continues, the PSB-6U may be malfunctioning. Test with brand new Alkaline batteries to be sure.

If the problem continues, then the recorder may need service.
