There are 2 ways in which an internal effect is applied to a track or input signal: you can either INSERT the effect or LOOP the effect.
Inserting an effect means that you want the signal to be completely changed by the effect; all you want to hear is effected signal. Typically the Effects you would use in such a way would be EQ, Compressors, Hum Cancelers, Noise Suppressors, Pitch Correction, Mic and Amp Simulation, etc.
Looping an effect is best suited for effects that accentuate existing signal. A looped effect will produce a sound that contains a balance between "dry" and "effected" signal, which can be adjusted to suit your needs. Effects in this category are, Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Phase, etc.

Inserting an Internal Effect into a Track
Choosing the effect:
- Hold down the SHIFT button and press the F3 [EFFECT] button.
- Use the ZOOM cursor buttons to select which processor you want to use and then press ENTER/YES. If you only have one effects board in the unit, you will choose between FX1 and FX2.
- Press F1 [PATCH].
- Use the TIME/VALUE dial to highlight the desired effect.
- Press F5 [SELECT] to choose that highlighted effect and then press F3[EXIT].
- Press F3 [EDIT]. The effect edit screen appears. You may use the ZOOM cursor buttons to select a parameter and then the TIME/VALUE dial to edit the effect parameter. You can also come back to this screen and adjust effect parameters after inserting into a track.
- Press HOME to return to the main screen.
Applying the effect:
- Press either the [TR-1-12] button or the [TR-13-24] button to the left of the red MASTER fader.
- Press the [CH EDIT] button, above the track's volume fader, of the track you wish to add the effect to. This will take you to the Track Mixer screen for that track.
Note: By default, the Aux busses are patched to the effect processors one-to-one. In other words: AUX 1 will send to FX-1; AUX 2 will send to FX-2, AUX 3 will send to FX-3...etc. - Use the ZOOM cursor buttons to select the Aux box for which processor you would like to send the track to. For example, if you have setup a reverb on FX-1 and want to add some reverb to the currently selected track, cursor down to AUX 1. These are your effect sends and adjust the individual levels going to the effect.
- Use the TIME/VALUE dial to change the AUX to "Pst".
- Cursor to the "-∞" sign and use the TIME/VALUE dial to change the value of the FX SEND. A good testing value would be "0.0".
- Press the HOME button to return to the main screen.
Raising the FX Return:
- Press either the [AUX 1-8/FX-14] button to the left of the red MASTER fader.
- Raise all of the 12 onboard faders to 0dB.
