The following are internal and external hard drive (HDD) specifications for the VS-880EX:
- 2.5" IDE drive (Also known as Parallel ATA) 44 pin.
- 6 GB maximum
NOTES:
- Before using a new disk drive or a disk drive that has been previously used by another device, it is necessary to initialize the drive. This will enable it to be used with the VS-880. For details, please see the "Initializing the Disk" section in the VS-880EX Owner's Manual.
- Larger drives are not compatible and will not work.
- The maximum that the VS will format is 4 GB of a 6 GB drive.
- Any standard drive speed, buffer and cache specification is compatible.
- Years ago, recommended brands were Maxtor, Seagate and IBM.
- The VS recorder formats the hard drive into a maximum of 2 GB partition size
