Use the following procedure to set-up the BK-7m and the RD-800 so that the RD-800 can control the various parts of the BK-7m:
1. Connect the MIDI OUT of the RD-800 to the MIDI IN of the BK-7m.
2. Turn on the RD-800 and press MIDI CONTROL so it is lit. If you would like to use the split keyboard functionality of the RD-800, press the SPLIT button so it is lit and also press the LOWER button so it is lit.
3. Turn on the BK-7m so that the BK-7m WIZARD appears. Make a WIZARD selection from the following two options:
If you are using the RD-800 in the WHOLE KEYBOARD mode, you will need to use the MASTER KEYBOARD / ONE CHANNEL option in the BK-7m WIZARD.
If you are using the RD-800 in the SPLIT KEYBOARD and / or LAYER mode, you will need to use the MASTER KEYBOARD / MULTI CHANNEL option in the BK-7m.
4. After making your selection in the WIZARD, be sure to carefully follow the screen prompts so that the BK-7m can "learn" the MIDI Channels that the RD-800 is transmitting on.
NOTE: The WIZARD will ask you to "PLAY A NOTE" so that it can determine the MIDI Channel that the RD-800 is transmitting on. The BK-7m may ask you to do this once (in the ONE CHANNEL option) or more than once (in the MULTI CHANNEL option). In the MULTI CHANNEL option, you will need to play a note twice on the right side of the split (once for the UP1 and once for the UP2) and twice on the left side of the split (Once for the LWR and once for the MBS). The RD-800 will then be able to control the Arranger / Rhythms with the left hand and still be able to play the UP 1 and UP 2 PARTS of the BK-7m with the right hand.
