The following will troubleshoot the VS in the event that you are unable to get any input audio signal.
Note: Be sure to create a new Project prior to following the instructions below. This ensures that all routing and project settings are at their default:
VS-2480: Creating a New Project
- Lower the red MASTER fader.
- If you have speakers connected to outputs 7 and 8 (L-MONITOR-R) or headphones connected, raise the red MONITOR knob to 3'oclock (pointing at "0").
- Plug a Microphone or instrument into an input.
- From your main screen, press F2 (IN MIX). Note: If "IN MIX" doesn't appear above F2, press the PAGE button, to the left of F1, until it appears. The level meters on your screen now display the Input meters. It is the Input Mixer that actually sends the audio to the internal multi-track recorder.
- While sending signal in (e.g. singing in the mic, playing the guitar, playing the drum machine, etc), slowly turn the input SENS knob for the respective input clockwise.
- You will see level in the meter of the input you are connected to. Continue to turn the knob until the meter averages between -12 and -4 on the meter.
- Press the IN 1-16 button above the red MASTER fader. The faders are now assigned as the fader control for the Input Mixer--audio entering the VS-2480 in real-time (e.g. mic, guitar, instrument, etc).
- Bring up the fader that correlates to the input you are using to 0dB. (e.g. If you are using input 1, bring up fader 1).
- If you have headphones connected, raise the respective PHONES 1 or PHONES 2 knob.
- Slowly raise the red MASTER fader. You should begin to hear audio. Note: If speakers are connected, be sure that they are on and their volume is up.
- Press the TR 1-16 button above the red MASTER fader. The faders are now assigned as the fader control for the Track Mixer.
- Press the Track Status button for the track you want to record to, until it turns red. Since we are using the default routing, use the same Track # as your input. (e.g. If you are connected to Input 1, then push Track Status for Track 1). This puts the track into record status.
(The example given here is for track 1) - Bring up the fader volume of this track.
(The example given here is for track 1) - Press REC and then PLAY. Press STOP to end recording.
NOTE: If you have any other tracks recorded, bring up their fader volumes to hear them playing while you are recording.
-
If you would like to record any additional tracks, plug a microphone or instrument into a different input and then repeat these steps.
