RC-300: Backing Up the Internal Memory to a Computer
IMPORTANT NOTE: Following these Recovery steps will erase all existing data on the RC-300. If you need any of the data currently on the RC-300, be sure to backup before following these instructions.
USB STORAGE MODE:
Note: The RC-300 needs to be in USB STORAGE mode in order to recover backup data from a computer. Also, the RC-300 can't communicate with a computer if it's playing a loop or if there's a phrase that hasn't been saved. Be sure to stop the RC-300 if it's playing and save the phrase if necessary.
- Press the SYSTEM button.
- Repeatedly press the right cursor button until the “USB Mode” appears.
- Turn the MEMORY/VALUE dial to select the “STORAGE.”
- Press the EXIT button.
- Use a USB cable to connect the RC-300 to your computer’s USB connector (a connector that supports USB 2.0).
- When the connection to the computer is completed, the message “Idling...” appears.
- A window will appear on your computer showing the contents of the RC-300's internal memory. Close down this window and the follow the instructions below:
Windows:
- Right-click on the Windows icon on the bottom-left of your desktop and then select "File Explorer." The RC-300 (or "Removable Disk") icon will be in "This PC" section on the left panel.
- Drag and drop the backup "ROLAND" folder that you previously created (backed up) onto the “RC-300” icon (or the “removable disk (*:) icon.
Note: You must drag and drop the entire “ROLAND” folder. Do not drag and drop any other files or folders but the entire ROLAND folder itself. - After the recovery has completed, use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to un-mount and then disconnect the USB cable.
macOS:
- You will see a "RC-300" icon (or a "removable disc") icon on the macOS desktop.
- Drag and drop the backup "ROLAND" folder that you previously created (backed up) onto the “RC-300” icon (or the “removable disk (*:) icon.
Note: You must drag and drop the entire “ROLAND” folder. Do not drag and drop any other files or folders but the entire ROLAND folder itself. - After the recovery has completed, drag the Drive icon of the USB memory into the trash and then remove the USB cable.
