The VS-2480 does not have a function to listen to a mix in mono. However, there is a workaround for accomplishing this:
Setup one Aux bus to be used for that purpose and set all those Aux Sends (every channel and FX return) to -6dB. When you want to check your mix in mono, use the EZ ROUTING display to route that Aux channel to your monitors.
- Connect your speakers to OUTPUTS 7 and 8 ("L-MONITOR-R") on the back panel.
- Raise the MONITOR knob.
- Select an Aux bus to be used as the mono mix check. In this example, Aux 8 will be used in this example.
- Press the TR-16 button above the red MASTER fader.
- Press the CH EDIT button for Track 1.
- Use the ZOOM cursor buttons and the TIME/VALUE dial to send -6dB to AUX 8.
Also, set the AUX 8 send to PST (for post fader) as shown below: - Repeat steps 3 and 4 above to send -6dB to AUX 8 for Tracks 2 through 16. Basically, across all channels.
- Press the TR-17-24/FX RTN button above the red MASTER fader.
- Press the CH EDIT button for Track 17.
- Use the ZOOM cursor buttons and the TIME/VALUE dial to send -6dB to AUX 8.
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 above to send -6dB to AUX 8 for Tracks 18 through 24 and then for FX 1 Return through FX 8 Return. Basically, across all channels.
- Press the IN 17-24/AUX SND button above the red MASTER fader.
- Raise the AUX 8 fader to the 0dB position.
- Press the EZ Routing button and then press F3(OUTPUT).
- Use the ZOOM cursor buttons and the TIME/VALUE dial to patch the MONITOR bus ("MON L/R") source to AUX 8.
NOTE: Be sure that you are connecting "MON L/R" to only AUX 8 and not both AUX 7 and AUX 8. It should look like this: - Also, be sure that the MONITOR bus is being output of the MONITOR OUT jacks 7 and 8 as shown below:
The mix is now in mono. Note that the MASTER fader no longer controls the overall volume. Use the MONITOR knob to the left of the screen to adjust overall volume. - To hear the mix in stereo again, set the MONITOR bus source back to MASTER bus.
