The following is troubleshooting information in the event that the V-STUDIO 100 is unable to control Sonar software using the faders and transport buttons (PLAY, STOP, REW, FF):
- The V-STUDIO 100 Driver must be installed in order for the unit to control software. If you have not installed the driver, this can be downloaded for your computer's operating system here:
V-STUDIO 100 Downloads - Be sure to log on as a user with administrative privileges on your computer.
- Close/turn off system monitoring/anti-virus software. If system monitoring software such as anti-virus programs are installed on your computer, close them while troubleshooting.
- Connect the VS-100 directly to your computer. Do not connect the VS-100 to a USB hub.
- Connect the VS-100 to a USB 2.0 port on the computer; or a USB 3.0 port with backwards compatibility. Check the USB 3.0 specifications of your computer to determine if there is complete support for USB backwards compatibility.
- Be sure that the V-STUDIO 100 is setup correctly prior to connecting the USB cable:
a. On the VS-100, press and hold the DISPLAY button until the “UTILITY” menu appears on the screen.
b. Use the CURSOR/VALUE dial to choose “DAW Select” and then press on the dial.
c. Turn the CURSOR/VALUE dial to select “Sonar” and then press on the dial. The VS-100 is now configured for Sonar Software.
d. Use the CURSOR/VALUE dial to select “Storage” and then press on the dial.
e. Turn the CURSOR/VALUE dial to select “OFF” and then press on the dial.
f. Press the DISPLAY button to return to the main screen. - Follow the proper setup instructions for creating a control surface in the version of Sonar you're using:

Configuring the VS-100 for Sonar X2/X1 - In the Sonar, be sure that "MIDI (VS-100)" is not selected in the MIDI Devices and Control Surface window and only "Control (VS-100)" is selected. Also, be sure that in the “Controller/Surface” box, select “VS-100” assign both “Input Port” and “Output Port” to “CONTROL (VS-100)."
- If the "VS-100" doesn't appear as a "Controller/Surface" selection, install the latest VS-100 Control Surface plug-in according to the following article:
VS-100 Does Not Appear as a Control Surface Selection - If the problem continues, download the driver again, run the uninstall program included in the download and then reinstall the driver:

After reinstalling the driver, setup the VS-100 using the article above. - Operating Version: When VS-100 is turned on, the version of the current system software is displayed in the lower right of the screen. If the indication is V1.30 or earlier, update to V.1.50 (Version 1.50):
