If the VS freezes up when attempting to turn on and boot up, then the hard drive may be fragmented. The following will guide through unlocking the system in order to backup songs and then initialize the hard drive--to resolve the fragmentation:
-
With the VS-2400CD powered off, press and hold the TRACK/STATUS button for track 4 and the CH EDIT button for track 4 simultaneously.
-
Continue to hold both buttons and turn on the VS-2400CD. Continue holding the two buttons until the system has loaded completely. This can take several minutes.
-
Once the system has loaded completely, release the buttons.
-
Backup any projects and then format the hard drive. Be sure to format the hard drive because the fragmentation will not be resolve until this is done--and the issue can reappear.
The following article will guide through this:
VS-2400CD: Resolving a Fragmented Hard Drive
NOTE:
If you’re unable to load and/or backup projects or partitions (e.g. your projects no longer appear in the Project List), then the hard drive is too fragmentation to function properly. In this case, there are two remaining options:
- Format the hard drive by following the article found here: VS-2400CD: Formatting a Hard Drive
Note: Formatting will erase all data on the hard drive. - Contact a local service center to have the VS recorder serviced:
