If the VS freezes up when attempting to turn on and boot up, then the hard drive may be fragmented. The following will guide through unlocking the system in order to backup songs and then initialize the hard drive--to resolve the fragmentation:
-
With the VS-2000CD powered off, press and hold the TRACK/STATUS button for track 4 and the FX 2 button simultaneously.
-
Continue to hold both buttons and turn on the VS-2000CD. Continue holding the two buttons until the system has loaded completely. This can take several minutes.
-
Once the system has loaded completely, release the buttons.
-
Backup any projects and then format the hard drive. Be sure to format the hard drive because the fragmentation will not be resolve until this is done--and the issue can reappear.
The following article will guide through this:
VS-2000CD: Resolving a Fragmented Hard Drive
NOTES:
- If you’re unable to load and/or backup projects or partitions (e.g. your projects no longer appear in the Project List), then the hard drive is too fragmentation to function properly. Format the hard drive by following the article found here: VS-2000CD: Formatting a Hard Drive
- If the hard drive will not complete the format process, then the VS-2000CD may be malfunctioning and need service. However due to the age of the product and the fact that parts are no longer available for the VS-2000CD, our service department no longer services these.
