R-05: How To Specify Loop Point Times

While the R-05's  repeat function does not have an ability to precisely specify loop start and end times, you can use the Trim function to accomplish this. The following article will guide through using the TRIM function to remove the audio before and after the looped/repeating portion of audio. The remaining file will be exactly what you want looped and this file can be set to just repeat.

For example, if you have a 20 second audio file (i.e. 00:00:20) and the desired loop points are from 00:00:03 to 00:00:15, then you could perform the Trim function twice: once to remove the portion of audio before 00:00:03 and another time to remove the portion of audio after 00:00:15.

Here's the example:

1. Press FINDER and cursor to the file.
2. Press the red record button .
3. Cursor to "9 Trim" and then press the red record button.
4. Use the  rewind button to set the Start point on the screen as "00:00:00.0" and then press the red record button. Note: the number after seconds allows a more precise point to select.
5. Use the fast-forward and rewind buttons  to set the End point on the screen as "00:00:03.0" and then press the red record button twice.
   The specified portion of audio has been removed and a new audio file has been created with a "-1" at the end of the file. For example, if the original audio file was name "R05_0001", then the newly trimmed file will be named "R05_0001-1".
6. Press the red record button to select the newly created trimmed file.
7. Cursor to "9 Trim" and then press the red record button.
8. Use the rewind button to set the Start point on the screen as "00:00:15.0" and then press the red record button.
9. Press and hold the fast-forward button to select the End of the recording (in this example, the end is 00:00:20) and then press the red record button twice. A new file will be created with another "-1" after it. In this example, the second trimmed file would be named "R05_0001-1-1".
10. Press the red record button to select the newly created trimmed file.
11. Cursor to "1 Select" and then press the red record button to select it.
12. Press MENU.
13. Cursor to "2 Player Setup" and then press the red record button.
14. Use the Cursor buttons to set "Play Mode" to "SINGLE" and then set "Repeat" to "ON". The newly trimmed audio file will repeat continuously.
