The following article contains troubleshooting information in the event that you are having trouble importing audio files from a computer:

Be sure that the audio files that you are trying to import are compatible with the R-26. The following is a list of audio file formats that the R-26 is compatible with:
WAVE: Sampling Rate: 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz and 96 kHz, Bit Depth: 16 or 24 bits
MP3: Sampling Rate: 44.1kHz and 48 kHz, Bit Rates: 32 - 320 kbps or VBR (Variable Bit Rate)
NOTES:
- MP3 files must be MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 only. If you are unsure, check the conversion software you are using for this setting.
- Any file format, sample rate or bit depth that is not listed above is not compatible. -
Be sure that the file name extension is either .mp3 or .wav.

If the song title begins with ".", it will be ignored and not displayed.

The R-26 can recognize file names that consist of ASCII characters (single-byte alphanumeric characters. The R-26 cannot identify file names that contains double-byte characters such as Japanese. Characters that can be used:
(space) ! # $ % & ' ( ) + , – . 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 ; = @

We recommend placing the file in the root directory of the R-26's memory card and not in any folders--for troubleshooting purposes.

For troubleshooting purposes, we would recommend trying brand new, unused Alkaline (non-rechargeable) batteries. Note: the R-26 is compatible with Alkaline and Nickel-metal hydride batteries only--Lithium or other battery types are not compatible. If you are using a power supply, be sure that you are using a PSB-120 or PSB-1U power supply only--3rd party power supplies can cause the unit to not operate properly.

Log onto your computer as a user with administrative privileges.

Close/turn off system monitoring/anti-virus software temporarily--this may be preventing your R-26 from communicating with your computer properly.

Connect the R-26 directly to your computer via USB. Do not connect to a USB hub while troubleshooting.

Try a different SD memory card (if you have one available). Just to be sure that the SD card that you are using is not malfunctioning.

You may have a fragmented memory card--due to improper ejection from a computer, power loss while recording, not formatting a new SD card, etc. We would recommend formatting the SD card to alleviate the possible fragmentation on the card. NOTE: Formatting the memory card will erase all data on the card.

Try connecting the R-26 to a different computer (if you have one available). Just to rule out the computer being the cause of the issue from a virus or other reason.
