The following article will guide through setting up the HPD-20 to be used as the audio interface with Logic Pro X software.
Audio I/O Setup:
- Select Logic Pro X in the menu bar and navigate to Preferences.
- Click on “Audio...”
- Under the Devices tab, set the Input Device to “HPD-20”--if it is not already set.
- If you would like all of Logic's audio to be output through the HPD-20, set the Output Device to "HPD-20".
If you would like audio to be output through another soundcard (such as the computer's internal soundcard or a USB or Firewire soundcard), select the appropriate device in the Output Device section. - Click “Apply Changes”.
- Close the Preferences menu.
- If HPD-20 was selected as the "Output Device" in step 4 above, connect headphones to the PHONES jack or speakers to the "R" & "L/MONO" jacks of the HPD-20.
If another soundcard was selected in step 4 above, connect headphones or speakers to the appropriate device.
Track Setup:
Now we will select the HPD-20 as a track's input source.
- Select Track in the menu bar and click on New Audio Track. A new audio track will be created.
- In the Inspector Channel Strip section on the left, click on the mono/stereo button and select the track to be stereo (two rings).
- Click on the "Input" box and select the HPD-20 as the input source for the track.
Recording:
- Click on the "R" track arm button so that it turns red to arm the track(s).
- Press R on the keyboard to begin recording.
The HPD-20 is now setup for Logic Pro X and you can follow the basic recording instructions from Apple for additional information regarding recording audio.
Apple's Logic Pro X User Guide manual will guide you through recording in their software (for example: their Chapter 7 sections regarding working with tracks and Chapter 8 sections for recording).
